These gentle and affecting

The result on the whole
is a little less than compelling,

sa fare con grande musicalità
e con il buon gusto necessario
per realizzare dischi affascinanti e suggestivi. Fedelmente alla passione per questo
genere musicale, ha recentemente
pubblicato per l’etichetta canadese Boghei il suo secondo album, dal titolo “Ludovica”. L’album è un omaggio alla città di Quèbec, in Canada, il cui nome all’inizio del 1600 andò incontro alla proposta di essere modificato in Ludovica o
Louisville in onore di Luigi XIII. L’omaggio di Couture alla città si concretizza attraverso i quadri musicali delle sue composizioni e attraverso alcune fotografie di angoli della città,
riportate nel libretto, dal
sapore d’altri tempi. “Ludovica” è un disco che ha il fascino dell’esotico e che non ha paura di unire, anche con scelte azzardate, la musica etnica e tradizionale a basi elettroniche, la musica gitana e il folk al pop.
C’ molto eclettismo, sia nelle diverse origini della musica etnica
da cui Couture trae ispirazione che nelle strutture dei brani. Il progetto e l’intenzione sono interessanti e affascinanti. Peccato che l’album sia più efficace nella sua componente etno che in quella
elettronica, e che scivoli un po’ verso il basso con qualche brano troppo ridondante,
con qualche coro eccessivamente pomposo, con qualche rielaborazione troppo tornita e new age di elementi classicheggianti. Ma per un artista come Couture, qui in Italia davvero poco conosciuto, è interessante fare un passo indietro, tracciando un quadro anche del suo album di debutto, dal titolo “Quallunak” e pubblicato sempre per

"Ludovica" is a very fine and interesting
album blending the traditional music of Quebec with classical and contemporary influences in a highly individual and modern format. I really enjoy it, especially
the folk music is more in evidence and I immediately started playing it in my
radio show of folk and roots
music at Radio Voce Spazio,
as you can see from the
alleged playlist. More
music from "Ludovica"
will surely follow on air in the next weeks of course. In the meantime let me please thank you

escogido en esta ocasión, en referencia a ese sistema tan especial que popularizó la música después del vinilo y con su sonido tan peculiar como peculiar es el sonido de este compositor canadiense, un hombre que explora el universo
musical de múltiples maneras,
que logra una conjunción de sonidos excelsa para todos aquellos que creen que en la música existe algo más, que todavía se pueden crear cosas

For me Francois Couture music is spiritually close to the music of Richard Bone because

unexpected and leads the listener

releases it from oppressive
